Busy Busy

So I've been sooo busy this week yikes! And on top of that I haven't been feeling myself lately. One friend of mine thinks it's my hormones adjusting back to normal. Could be, or the fact that I'm sleep deprived too!

I have been doing my daily smoothies and I was able to get in 2 work outs so far this week. Plus I'm running around a lot so that is some good exercise. I have 17lbs to go!!!

Today I made a smoothie with, skim milk, frozen banana, 1 tablespoon of 100% cocoa and a dash of Cinnamon. I like it a lot.

The day before I made a fruit smoothie and added kale... YUK I used frozen kale, I eyeballed it but it wasn't that much that I put in but eww the greens where sticking to my teeth, the texture was gross bleh it was not good. So I'll be scratching the kale addition.

I really want to try a smoothies made with coffee, I'll work up this creation soon ahah!

I'm soooo glad tomorrow is Friday! Happy Friday!!

Working Weekend

This weekend I am one busy gal! I have many emails to catch up with and lots of errands to run.
Yesterday evening was so nice and warm. I love working outdoors whenever I get a chance!

When I went to the pet store the other day I bought Zoe a cute little pink mat to sleep on. She doesn't use it! Instead she keeps trying to go under it. She stayed like this for hours!

Weekend diet so far... This morning I had an omelette with coffee. I'll be heading out later today to buy a new blender since mine isn't working that well. I am loving making smoothies!

When I go grocery shopping I will buy plenty of fruits and veggies for my weekly smoothies, YUM!.

Hope you all are having a good weekend so far!

Time to get back on track!

This weekend I was feeling a little under the weather, just down and not like myself. We went out for my brothers birthday last night... I had originally said no to the event, but I knew I needed to get myself out and glad I did, we had a great time :)

We went to Copacabana Brazilian Steak House. I ate enough meat to last me a month! Hah!

The last couple of weeks have really been up and down. Last week we ended up eating out a lot! I think I tried every culture of food possible in a week. Chinese/Japanese/Italian/Brazilian/Middle eastern/Korean/Thai Yikes!
And my scale shows it!
My BMI is currently at OVERWEIGHT! At 27.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
  • Overweight = 25–29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
My new goal is to get at least at the higher bmi of the Normal weight 24.9 which means I need to drop 15lbs!

So this week I'm getting back on track!
Back to working out and eating healthy!

New Goals:
*1500 Calories/day
* Tracking calories on Iphone "my fitness pal app"
*Drink lots of water everyday! A MUST!
* 3 bite rule on sweets
* Tuesday RollerBlading
* Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday basement work out: Ab Lounge, Gazelle and workout DVD's
* No fast food! (no burgers, no fries, no pop!)
*More fruits and Veggies as daily snacks.

Hope you all had a good weekend. Happy July 4 to my American friends! :)

On a side note, We have been letting Zoe out on a leash in the backyard...
And I think she got stung by a bee! Look at her swollen paw! :(

Lazy Tuesday.

Why does Zoe ALWAYS sleep on the dining room table! What is so comfy about it? Why can't she pick the spare bedroom or the bathroom or anywhere else but the table! haha!

I made tonight a lazy Tuesday night. I came home made dinner... Pork chops and beans with salad and potatoes...YUM!
And I just stayed on the couch with my feet up watching TV! Sometimes these lazy days are soooo neeeded!

Tomorrow in soccer, Honduras and Chile play . We are going over to the inlaws for some delicious Honduran food tomorrow! Can't wait! Loving the world cup games!

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

Weekend relaxation!

Zoe and I cleaned the house today ahah! She chases me around when I sweep or swifter and gets extra hyper when I go in to the dining room or basement (she's territorial ahah!)

It's a beautiful day. I ran some errands and just relaxed outside getting fresh air!

We are still pretty new to our area and we are always looking for new places to eat and check out. Yesterday we found a Italian Sandwich place right by our house! I had a chicken sandwich with veggies. It was HUGE! Husband had to finish it off for me ahhah!

I'm sure you all know what next week is! World CUP! My husband is a HUGE soccer fan! I just tag along for the fun ahah! The teams we are going for....
He would also like me to mention he is also going for Brazil LOL.

What team/teams are you routing for!?

Had to buy the cupcakes :)

Food Update: My Breakfast and Lunches have been going well in terms of calories. I'm bringing more fruits and nuts to work to snack on and I'm not feeling that starved feeling when I leave work at 5pm which is good :)

Howeverrrr... I just HAD to buy cupcakes yesterday when I went grocery shopping, but I did good by sharing. I brought the cupcakes to my moms house yesterday and shared them, then today I had 1 but shared that 1 with my husband :) AND zoe got to my last bite so that was ok too ahhah!

I also bought 1% milk instead of the 2% since I have a new milk addiction.

Tonight we went out with friends to a Persian restaurant. I ordered a chicken breast kabob with rice. I only ate less than half the rice and shared my meat with my husband to keep my portions controlled :) See sharing is a good thing ahah!
So far so good and tomorrow is already Thursday :)

Hope you all have a great week!!

Friday Finally!

This week I've been doing pretty good with my eating, with a few exceptions, but overall keeping within my calories. Something changed this week, I've been drinking so much milk! I hardly drink milk and I've been having 2 full cups a night! Since my new found love for milk I figure this weekend when I do groceries I'll buy 1% instead so I can save those calories.

I'm so happy it's Friday and we have Monday off for "Family Day" a long weekend is sooo needed! This week I've been so tired, I feel like a slug going through my days then when I get home I don't want to do anything. Sometimes I wonder how could I be so tired taking care of just meeee!hmm.

On another topic, today I stopped by Homesense and found this Cat piece. When I paid for it the cashier said "Oh finally the cat is gone, it was here for so long" LOL my husband looked at me with a "what a cat freak you are" look ... ugh I am... :)

And talking about cats, that little girl Zoe has been SOOOOO BAD lately! We have been so busy or just so tired we are not giving her the affection she use to. Every night she meows and jumps on things and running out the door every chance she gets and begging for food, all foods it's so weird she wants whatever we have, she thinks she's a dog ahah!. I know she is just looking for our attention so it makes me feel bad, but her meowssss they are turning into screams! Ok I exaggerated haha! She is still my cute furbaby I love her no matter what! :)

Happy Fridayyyyyyyy!

Snack time!

Love my weekends. I get to catch up on so many things. Today my husband and I cleaned the whole house and took down the Christmas tree, ran some errands and just spent some quality time together.

I cooked every meal at home today and it was great.

Watching my calories with my Iphone App, is amazing. I love seeing how many calories I'm taking in and it helps me choose foods that are less calories.

Tonight for dinner I made Beef with mushrooms and onions with zucchini and sweet potato fries. Water to drink and a Spinach Salad to eat first!

Tonight we decided to stay in and make it a movie night. We went for a ride to Starbucks for a Latte and rented some movies for the night. I had about 300 calories left for my daily intake and I wanted to snack but wanted to make sure I did not go over.

So I popped some Samosas in the oven, 50 cals each

And put out some pistachios. (Not too many, there are hidden calories in these little nuts)
What are some of your evening snacks??

(Just one last note. I was watching a cat show and Zoe was just as excited ahaha!)

Got ya!

Can you see the pic above it's a little dark but that is Zoe hiding under the bed. Her new thing is to hide quietly under the bed when we are getting ready for bed so she doesn't get seen and doesn't get kicked out. She stays quietly until 2/3 am ish and sneaks into our bed for cuddles. It's cute and I love her, but husband gets allergies and if we move the way she does not agree with she will start biting and wake us up. So now every night we need to pull her out from under the bed and lock her out of our room. ahah her hiding place has been found!

Today is sooo cold here in toronto! -11c and feels like -20c BURRRRR!!!!!! Hats, scarfs and gloves are very much needed!

Cilantro pic. This is what it looks like today after just over a week in the fridge, it's a little wilted and does not smell as fresh. It tasted fine on the weekend. I will try it today. Over all it's lasts longer in the water than just in the bag.

2 more days of work then a week vacation ahhhhhh! Love the holidays!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Show us your life - Pets!

Today on Kelly's Korner it's Show us your life - PETS! Anyone that follows my blog knows I just love my furbaby Zoe.

After I got married in 2007 we decided to get a pet for our home. I did a lot of research and decided that a ragdoll kitty would be a good fit for us. I love cuddling and I read the Ragdolls love to be held. Zoe loves being cuddled!

The day we got her she was already a talkative little one! (I'm at work with limited pics shh but when I get home I have a video of Zoe when she was 6 months so cute)

Right away she new I was her MOM! ;) Zoe follows me everywhere! If she isn't beside me I know that something is wrong, or that she must have escaped. (She always bolts for an open door ;(

When I say she follows me... yes she follows me around, but she also wants to do what I'm doing. She's a total COPY CAT! LOL She sits on the computer because I use it, she trys to get into the dryer, the dish washer, the shower, my bed you name it, and when she sees me go outside and see's which way I walk, the days she escapes she runs that way! She also thinks she owns the dining room and basement. Walk into those rooms and she will go crazy jumping off the walls letting you know the space is hers! ahah! I know she's like that with the basement because her food is there, but the dining room I can't figure that one out.

When they say pets take on their owners personality, I really think they do. Zoe has a little me and husband in her personality. Fun, loving, behaving and bratty at the same time. A girly girl yet macho when needed, relaxed and hyper. Messy when she eats yet will not use a dirty litter, no way! Husband and I are opposites and Zoe has a little of both in her ahhah! She's my little furbaby and is always there when I need a fur shoulder to cry on ;)

Weekly Goals

Before I talk about my weekly goals, I wanted to mention that Zoe is fully over her little flu she had Sunday. She is back to herself again!

Today was my first full day at work and boy did it feel LONG! Everyone was very friendly and my day went pretty smooth. However I was pretty tense and I actually couldn't eat all day because my tummy was in knots, but no worries I came home and ate a yummy dinner :)

Zoe was sooo happpy to see me when I came home today. Nothing like the loving welcoming when entering the door after a long day! :)

I know its only Tuesday but my goals are going pretty well. I made yummy dinners yesterday and today and everyday for dinner this week!

(Beef stir fry with onions and mushrooms with a tortilla and spinach salad)

Oven baked pork chops with sweet potato fries , egg roll and spinach salad (I needed my carbs today ;)

My goals for the week are the following:
1. NO FAST FOOD!!!
2. Healthy home cooking all week. :)
3. Limit sweets
4. 2 days a week Jogging
5. Wear pedometer to work daily to track new daily steps.

Keeping goals simple this week ;)

I'm sooo tired this evening so hitting bed early!

My first day :)

Today was my first day of my new job, sorta. It was only orientation and only half a day whoohoo! My full days start tomorrow so I will let you know how that goes!

Since I had the afternoon off I made sure to get my groceries done today so I have enough food for the week so I won't have to eat out!

I bought lots of fruits and snacks to bring to work.

I've been so busy today trying to run as many errands as I can (Oh I will miss my days off!)

Zoe was really sick yesterday and I was really worried. She was vomiting all day and didn't eat or drink or use her litter box. Today she seems a little better, she drank some water and is walking around more. I was going to bring her to the vet but I will wait a couple more days and see if it passes. It may be a big hair ball upsetting her tummy or maybe she ate something around the house that she should not have. (I did see a few pumpkin seeds I baked out of the bowl, she may have picked some out and ate one :( poor girl she is miserable!

I have lots to do today and I will be posting another post later on... why?... because I got another award! yippy! But I want to post that one on it's own ;)

Hope you are all having a great Monday!!! :)

Halloween weekend

What a fun weekend we had! Yesterday we went to a friends Halloween party and had so much fun! Everyone's costumes were great and everyone looked so good! Husband and I were Zombies above. Below are some of us girls all dressed up!
Not too many kids came to the door for candy, I was very surprised and expected a lot more kids, especially here in suburbia. We live on a corner lot and face a park, so I am thinking that many kids just stayed on the inner streets. This was the same case as our previous home in the city. We lived on the streets curve and in front of the park, so many kids just did not come down to our end. Oh well, the good thing is that all the candy I bought was given away whoohoo, none left for me!

I ate terribly this weekend, fast food and sweets and just did not watch what I ate at alll ;(

This week I really need to pull in together. I just made my grocery list and it's a big one. I am going to try and make large dinners every night so we have enough left overs for lunch the next day. Hopefully I can pull this off.

Ahh but for now I just sit and relax!

** Furbaby Zoe is feeling sick today, I don't know what is wrong with her. :( she was throwing up this morning (must be fur balls) but she went to go sleep in the guest bedroom and hasn't been out all morning, not even when I opened the door to outside, that usually gets her running right for the door for an escape. Really hope she feels better and back to her playful self again.

Thursday ups and downs.

Finally Friday (well soon enough)! And Finally our long awaited trip is here! I think Zoe has been sensing we are leaving, maybe the smell of the luggage's remind her of the previous trips. She is all over me wanting to be pet and cuddled, making it even more heartbreaking. I really hope she is ok in the pet hotel and really hope she behaves so they love her and give her lots of attention! I hope I hope!!!! Zoe will be taking some things with her on her stress-cation haahha. Some items to remind her of home. One of her flower toys that she carries up and down the stairs all the time and a new scarf that she started playing with. I wonder if I should add a piece of my clothing too... Ok sounds creepy i know, I won't do that. Husband already thinks I'm cat crazy. Not just any cat crazy tho, just for my Zoe :)

Job stuff: So today's interview went well! BUT I did forget to ask some very important questions, like ummm.... Salary? However, from the description of the job at the interview, I'm not sure it would be a good fit for me at all...not that I got the job yet anyway so no point worrying about that! I am feeling more and more confident as each interview goes by, i'll be a pro in no time! :) Practice does make perfect!

Exercise: I went for my jog today and it felt great! Until I noticed the painful blisters on the back of my feet! nice huh just before my trip. Hope they heal quick! :( It seems that lately I've been so fragile and I am not liking this... Last weekend I had an allergic reaction to something that swelled my lips and caused canker sores in my mouth, then I had an little rash on my ring finger that prevented me from wearing my wedding rings all week, now my blisters, and not to mention my tummy aches and headaches from interview stress....GRR to stress!!

I can not believe how stress effects our bodies so much! Could all these symptoms be some sort of reaction to stress? Does stress give you any crazy symptoms?

Have a great (stress free) weekend everyone! :)

Pet Hotel

To add to my stress list, Zoe needs to be sent to the Kitty Hotel for a week while we are away, next week. I just dread it! I know they will take care of her and she will be safe. But the thought of her in a cage for hours at a time just breaks my heart! It's hard to ask family and friends to watch her, especially since she is one of those kitties that is waiting for any chance to break away and run her fastest out the door lol.

I'm bringing her to a different pet hotel since the last one did not give me a good vibe and the lady was mad that I did not trim her nails which led to Zoe stabbing her real good in the thumb. haha, ok not funny, I bet it hurt a lot, I guess I too would be mad. However, cats get stressed we know that... and Zoe is my furbaby and Hellooo look at me always stressed. I really hope Zoe doesn't think I left her forever :(
