Abusive Relationships

Thursday on Oprah they were talking about the Rihanna and Chris situation. Physical and emotional abuse.

They were discussing the damage physical abuse is on women, scaring their self-esteem and self worth making them feel that this is what they deserve and the reason why women in these situations stay in the abusive relationships and do not get out.

Emotional abuse is just as bad...I feel that Psychical and emotional abuse are equal in the damage it causes. Both destroy your self esteem and self worth and scar you forever.

We all can see the scars of Physical abuse, as its obvious, Rihanna pics prove that. But what about emotional abuse. So many women we meet and know may have these scars on the inside. Emotional abuse scars you on the inside effecting how you live your live and the choices you make and the fake smile on your face. Feeling unworthy, not good enough. It targets your mind and sends wrong messages too who you are and what you are worth. Tyra Banks was discussing how she was in an emotional abusive relationship when she was a model at the top of her game and although she was famous she felt horrible about herself and had low self esteem. How do you know you are being emotionally abused? Other than the obvious behaviors of possessiveness, jealousy and controlling behaviors, other behaviors may not be that obvious. It can begin on other levels. Criticism about who you are, what you look like, what you do and what you've done. Blows to your self esteem, making you feel like anything and everything you do is never good enough. Saying mean and hurtful things to you to make you feel vulnerable and low. Some of these behaviours can sneak up on you, they may have been there all along then you realize only once you start noticing that you do not know who you are anymore... I think this topic is so important for us women to understand. In fact men and women, children together, we should never allow someone else to judge, criticize, hurt, put down our self esteem. No one has the right to do this to another human being...

Portion Control

Weekend is over, didn't mind as my weekend was not thaaat exciting. I ate wayy too much fast food (Pizza, Burger King McDonald BF and Taco bell! and was not thinking about my weight loss challenge, obviously!. So today begins a new week! Today I did really well, I also focused on portion control. I made sure to put a little bit of food on my plate but spread it around nice so it doesn't look empty lol. It worked well for me today so i think i can continue this. I'm also drinking my green tea after every meal, i really think this also is helping me digest my food nicely.

Recently I have been having an issue with Breakfast... I don't wake up hungry (odd cause I use to always) But I'm finding it hard to eat to begin my day. A couple times I just had a banana, other times I just drank my tea. I know BF is the most important meal for the day so should I just stick to eating at least the banana or should I force myself to eat more at BF, or just not eat at all if im not hungry (I think i should really take advantage of those moments LOL) hmm I'll read up on this and see what I find...

Friday! Whoohoo!

Happy Friday everyone. It's a beautiful day here in Toronto, temp going up to 16 C whohoo, spring is arriving. I'm craving this sunshine and warmth so bad, the winter gives me the blues!

We decided to spend this weekend spring cleaning... throw away all junk in the house, clean the windows outdoors, touch up some paint on the walls. Remember having a clean un cluttered home helps you have a uncluttered mind ;) lol I always feel more positive and higher energy when my house is spotless. So I'm looking forward to the weekend.

I'll try and get to the clothes as well and pack up stuff to send to the good will.

We are 1 week into the weight loss challenge and haven't lost any weight. I only worked out once this week (not good!) I ate pretty healthy, minus the apple pie I had ;) I'll kick this into higher gear this week.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Flu...Again! But still galavanted around the city ;)

So I got the flu.. AGAIN just had it two weeks ago and now its back worse than it was and so far longer... I had a busy weekend, my sister stayed over for the weekend cause the guys took a trip to Montreal, so no way I was going to let this flu ruin my weekend!.... I kept going this weekend with Tylenol cold and flu tabs every 4 hours, it helped me stay up and about but boyyyyyy am I feeling the drain right now ;(... I hope I didnt make things worse. A friend of mine told me to eat lots of Oranges, so I went and bought lots. I'll be eating two right now, then I'm just going to stay stuck on this couch the rest of the evening.

Overall the weekend was a success. My sister and I shopped lots. I got some amazing deals ;) Like I mentioned before I am not a shopaholic, I do love to shop but I'm one of those shoppers that go shop for "just what I need" type things... But this weekend we had it planned that we would just have fun and shop and buy whatever we liked (within our budget of course) ;)... So I set my mind to it and I did great. I bought some spring and summer clothing and 3 pairs of summer shoes and a pair of winter boots.... didn't neeeeed any of them, but sooo happy I have them, I am sure I will put it all to gooood use!.... I have to show you the great deals I got. Winners had a clearance sale and I got these boots for $9.00! I know! reg $70 and I got these cute black pumps for 3.00!!!!!!! Reg $50. Amazing HUH. I got these other shoes as well, regular prices but just had to get them for summer time ;).

I also bought this hair mask, i totally recommend. A couple years ago I had bleach Blonde hair, and when I dyed it to brown it basically all fried off, (thats another story, it was very devastating) LOL but I'm all good now, nice and natural ... but this Hair mask Protein RX is what really helped me get my healthy hair back, i used it for about 6 months at the time while growing my hair and it really helped. So I decided to buy it again just to use about every 2 weeks to keep my hair nice and strong. You can get this at Sephora, it's amazing.

We also did our weigh in for the $300 weightloss challenge, Starts today...I'll write about that tomorrow. ;)

Law of Attraction

My pic above has nothing to do with what I'm talking about today LOL but we had guests over this weekend and I had some yummy cupcakes on display so just had to show them off :)

Do you believe in Law of Attraction (LOA)? Has it worked for you?

The movie and book the secret are amazing in explaining the LOA, and I have read lots of other similar books that discuss it. So I strongly believe that it works. Over the weekend I read a fellow bloggers blog about how everyone that prayed for her little girl helped and her little girl is now a healthy little bundle. When I was reading this I thought WOW, there must have been thousands of prayers and attention put to this little girl for her speedy recovery, and it worked!

It just adds to my believe of what you put attention on will come thru, whether its thoughts about yourself, or thoughts on others or anything. I have many of my own personal stories of when this worked for me, and I can even remember putting up a picture when I was in Grade 9 of a car I wanted and I got that same car years later (well my bf/husband at the time bought it) But still I feel that I attracted that. Another story I had was when we bought our first house, my husband and I wrote out exactly what we wanted, a investment property that we can make into apartments, near a local park, near shops, on a specific street and for a certain price we wanted it for... and guess what ALL the things we wrote down we got! (I should have also wrote down, move in ready" lol because the house needed majorrr work, but that's another story.

So now that I'm feeling extra positive today I'm going to take a look at my current goals and really start focusing on them and attracting them into my life!

Do you have any LOA stories?

Turning 30!

Not me tho! ahah. My husband will turn 30 this weekend. Surprisingly he looks very ready for it.
A friend of mine once told me that her 30's were the best time of her life. And that her 20's were fun but was filled of learning who you really are or want to be.
I guess I feel that for myself, here in my late 20's 2 years to 30, I'm always feeling conflicted and either going with the change and at times against it. OI early 20's were much more fun!

Well, for the bday plans, it will be a busy busy weekend! Lots of food and friends and family!

We are trying out a Brazilian Steakhouse in downtown Toronto, YUM pic above will make your mouth water, my favorite part is the grilled pineapple! And for the cakes! We will have 2, one for Sat and one for Sun, i know he is so spoiled.

Happy weekend everyone!

Chicken!

Here in Canada we had a long weekend just this past weekend. It's called Family Day. A group of us went up to a friends cottage. It was a calm weekend (except for the guys, they were far from calm). On Sunday we decided to go tubing, which is sliding down these huge hills in a tube!... Boy was I chicken, a couple years ago I would have found this very fun ahah. I find the older I'm getting the more careful I am, the more hesitant, the more scared, I'm not brave at all! I ended up going down these hills twice, both times screaming for dear life, with eyes closed and heart in my mouth. I can say I do not plan on going back. A couple friends of mine were saying that they did things when they were in their early 20's and would never do those things now at all, 10 years later. So I guess I'm not alone, whew....Oh well I guess some of us change as we grow.
