My first Mother s Day

I've only been a mom for 6 months but I can tell you that it's the most amazing feeling in the world.

I love my little boy. He has me smiling and happy everyday. He looks at me with so much love and I love him more than anything!

Being a mom has made me a stronger woman too. I can take on so much more than I ever thought I could. I amaze myself somedays, I have some kick @ss multitasking skills ha!

Whenever I feel down or scared or unsure. I look at my sweet baby and nothing else matters. I feel grateful, and blessed and so much love for this little boy.

Ya somedays I feel soo exhausted I could drop haha but everyday I see my little boy change and grow it makes my heart skip a beat. It's such great joy to see this little person grow in front of my eyes.

I had a great 1st mother's day with this cute little boy.

End of a busy week! Doctor appt, baby fun and shopping!

This week has been crazy busy.

I can hardly remember the week haha.

Wednesday I went to my family doctor to tell her about my knee and wrist pain. She thinks it could be arthritis. EEEK! I hope not! I hope that once I drop more weight it will go away!  She said to move away to a hot place and that will make it go away. haha I'm for it! :)
Next week I'll be going back to her for a full checkup.

She saw baby K for the first time too! She said he looks very healthy and very attentive. She suggested that I feed more cereals, as did our pediatrician. She also said it was time to wean off breastmilk and have more solids... our pediatrician said the same but I'm finding it tough to skip out feedings. And after talking to my twitter moms I am just going to follow Baby K. I don't feel he is ready to skip some nursing feedings. I am trying to stretch them a little longer though... trying :)

Today we went and registered for daycare, baby boy is all set for full time daycare in October. I don't really want to talk about it. ha! It's getting too close! But the place is great and all the kids there are happy and love it. It's close to our home and fits our work schedules perfectly.

On to more exciting things...

Look what I got! A new Coach purse! I love it! although it looks like all my other coach purses ahaha. But it's cross body which I love and big enough to fit my ipad! :)

I have been planning my little boy's baptism so yesterday we did a little photo shoot. And my brother took lots of pictures of baby K!

Such a cutie!!!!

I'm choosing the one above for the invitations. :)

My brother took about 180 pictures haha. All of them super cute!

Hope you all have a great weekend and Happy Mothers Day!

Been busy busy!

The weekend was busy with lots of get togethers and running around the city. This week is a continuation of that.

We saw family and friends this weekend and had a great time!

Yesterday we went to see the venue for Baby K's baptism. ;) I also placed the order for his cake too! Lots of planning! Just 2 months away!

Today we had a nice lunch at our cousins house. She made a delicious healthy lunch ;)

Today I also got a early mothers day gift! The iPad 3! Yay!! Baby K is already all over it!

Baby K has been changing ad growing so much! Yesterday he was able to grab his floating duckies in his bath. He also cries when he leaves the bath because he wants to play longer!

He is really trying to use his screams to get what he wants these days. Oh boy!

Today he tried apples! He doesn't like his cereal that much so today I had to dip the cereal in the squash and feed him at the same time!

Another busy day tomorrow! Hope you all are having a great week so far.

Making baby food Pears

This week we tried pears!

I used 2 pears, peeled cut out the seeds, chopped them up and steamed them for about 8 minutes.

I then blended them into a purée. I did not add any water since the pears are pretty juicy themselves.

Monday I made pear and butternut squash purée for the whole week. I placed 2 days of the cubes in the fridge and the rest in the freezer.

I've been giving baby boy pears at lunch and butternut at dinner. However yesterday I mixed pears and squash together for both meals.

Next week we will be on to apples and sweet potato.

Yum!!!

6 month doctor appointment

Today we had our 6 month old doc appointment!

Our doctor was happy to see how strong and happy Kristian is. He has very strong legs. Thanks to his exersaucer. He was happy to see how he sits up as well. Kristian is right on track with development. He weighs 15lbs and 25.5 inches long.

Our doctor said to keep I introducing new foods every 3 days and our goal is that by 8 months he is eating a variety of foods and weaning off breast milk himself. He also said to continue rice cereals twice a day. ( I had stopped this, but I'll continue it)

Today's visit went well! Kristian got one vaccine but is such a strong boy and cried for just a second!

My cutie pie!

Here some pictures of today and stroller fitness class yesterday.

Happy hump day!

Baby K is 6 months old!

You are 6 months already! It was like yesterday I brought you home from the hospital!

We love you soooooo much!

You are such a good baby! You LOVE to be held and you don't care by who haha! Everyone loves to hold and cuddle you and you are great with other people. You are soo social! You want to be part of everything! You will not sleep at all if there is a lot going on.

You only cry when you are tired and hungry. The rest of the time you are happy, smiling, babbling, laughing and observing.

You love to splish splash in the bath... The other night was the first time you cried leaving the bath.. you wanted to stay and splash away!

You LOVEEE ZOE our cat. But she is not a fan of you yet haha! You stop what you are doing to stare at her, and if you are crying and hear her meow you stop right away and look at her. It's adorable!

When on your tummy you scootch your bum right up, your arms aren't as strong as your legs tho, not yet :)  You have very strong legs and LOVE to be in the exersaucer. We say you are our little soccer player :)

I love spending everyday with you. You always have me smiling and laughing.

You love sleeping in your crib and when you wake up you try and grab your mobile. It's so cute to watch. You sleep in your crib everyday but not for the whole night. I like to have you close since your sleep schedule isn't consistent yet and I am not ready to walk back and forth to your room ha!:)

You still nurse every 2-3 hours and eat solids twice a day. 40ml at 12pm and 5pm ish. Today we tried Pears and you liked it! What you don't seem to like is apple oatmeal. I stopped all cereals anyway. We are on breast milk, fruits and veggies. So far you have had Avocados, Bananas, Carrots, Butternut squash and pears!

The first 5 months I had sooo much trouble getting you to take a bottle.  Now you take any bottle and even a sippy cup! I was shocked to see this. However you HATE formula and just spit it out if I give it to you, so unless I pump, I have nothing to let you sip on yet haha!

You weigh 15lbs and in size 3 diapers.

You have your 6 month check up on Wednesday and one needle.

You are such a sweet boy and we love you soooooo much! Happy 6 months Kristian!!!

Cutie Pie!

Making Baby Food Butternut Squash!

Yesterday I made Butternut squash for my little boy.

It was my first time making this.. ever.. ha!

I first washed it under cold water and dried it.
 Then cut the ends off...
Then in half... It's like a pumpkin, ha!
Scoop out seeds and peel it. My littler peeler was not that great so I ended up using a knife to peel it.
I chopped it up and put it in my steam pot. (you can use your regular stove stop steamer )
Let it cool then blend! I added about 1oz -2oz water. Add more or less depending on how thick or thin you want your puree.
I then filled up my little containers and placed some in the fridge and some in the freezer. I read that in the fridge pre-made baby food is good for 2-3 days.
Yummy!
Kristian loved it! I gave it to him for lunch and dinner yesterday and will do the same today!

We have tried, Avocado, Banana, Carrots, and Butternut squash!

A couple weeks ago I entered in this giveaway from Stephanie over at http://www.howtosurvivelifeinthesuburbs.com/2012/04/nutrition-on-go-go-with-gerber.html

 And I won it!!!! whooooooo!
Gerber graduates products! I'm familiar with these because my niece loved so many of these goodies. Look at all these goodies!!! All the items are for 9 months plus, so we need to wait a little bit before we try them. But we are excited.
 Happy boy!

Kris will be 6 months Sunday! As of this week he is 15lbs! :)

Look at me shopping for deals!

It is true that having a baby is expensive, especially when there are such cute cool items on the market. Seems like they all are must haves sometimes.

But the past month I made sure to think twice when purchasing baby items. Not only was it getting expensive, our house was turning into a baby play ground ha! Now I ask questions like, do we really need it? Is it something I really want? How long will it be used for? And can I get it for a deal!?

Well this has been working great for me so far!

Some items I think I want, turn out to be things that would be a waste of money and other things, great buys because I thought it through enough.

Last week I wanted 2 Fischer price 3 in 1 baby chairs, one for us and one for the inlaws. I found a seller on kijiji in my area and she had twins and was selling both! They were in perfect condition and I bought them for $25 each! In the store $80 each.

When I joined stroller fitness I used my current stroller, my Peg Perego Skate that my sister and SIL bought me as our baby gift. I love this stroller but in the park it wasn't that great and it was getting pretty beat up too on the rocky paths . So I decided to look for used stroller that would be better for all terrain. I emailed sooo many sellers on kijiji and bargained. I ended up getting the Peg Perego gt3! For an amazing price! 70% off the original price. It was used for only a year and the stroller is in mint condition. It also allows me to snap in the infant carrier. Although baby K will be outgrowing that soon! But it's great to have!

So that's 2 weekends in a row of shopping for deals. Go me!

Making baby food is soo easy!

 Making Baby Food!

I love making my little one his food at this beginning stage of trying new foods.
So far my little one has had Avocados, bananas and carrots.

I use the Hamilton beach Pot to steam the foods that will need to be steamed, like the carrots and when I move on to apples, butternut squash, sweet potato and etc!

I also use the Hamilton beach hand held blender. I got this blender as a shower gift.  It's so easy to use and easy to clean!

I posted this picture last week when I made carrot puree.
I used organic carrots, washed and peeled them and chopped them up and steamed them.  I added about 150ml water and blended it. I can use more or less water depending on how thick or thin I want the Puree. Then I used my little containers to store the left overs in the fridge to use the rest of the week. I love doing that! Kinda easier than making the avocado or banana where it needs to be made daily.

So far my little one is loving lunch and dinner.  I first nurse him then give him his little meal about 20 minutes afterwards. When I started I waited an hour in between, but I made it closer now.  I feed him at 12pm and 6pm :)

Making baby food is really so easy. I'm glad I'm doing it too!
