Stay at home/school

Hey Mama’s how are y’all  hold’n up!

I really wish I blogged everyday since the beginning of this pandemic because the waves of emotions and adjusting has been, ummmm sorta like a rollercoaster.

We are on DAY 40!!! So let me recap for my blog records :)

This all started on the first day of the kids March break! I won’t lie, it was all pretty exciting in a weird way. Being lucky enough to work from home and keep our family inside and staying home.  The kids were up late, lots of movies and screen time and junk food as mommy and daddy were glued to the news with anxiety but smiling faces to keep everyone in as normal and fun state as possible.

The news talked about the rise in cases and the extra precautions we all have to take. Articles and news stories about washing produce and wiping groceries, wearing masks and gloves when you are out. It got very overwhelming at times. I panicked about food in our fridge and if we had enough of there was a total lockdown.  I made list after list of things we needed. Thankfully we haven’t had a strict lockdown here in our province.

Whatsapp chats with alll our groups of friends and families kept us super busy exchanging thoughts and support.

And now here we are day 40.

I think we are on week 3 of the official roll out from our schools for homeschooling.  Something that is new for all of us.  Teachers working extra hard to provide their students with as much support as possible. Parents trying to juggle homeschooling, work, multiple kids and a household. The busiest kind of busy!

All while keeping it together.  Every family dynamic is different and every family does things differently. What works for me, might not for you. These are not normal times and we all have to make the best of it.

These are the things that work for us during this crazy time.

We have a light schedule. It’s not a strict one either. If the kids need extra sleep then they get it. They are usually up for 9am anyway.

We enjoy breakfast together, no rushing. Plus mama needs a full cup of coffee before we fully start our day ha!

After breakfast we head over to our workspace. Getting the boys to pay attention when they want to play instead and giggle and distract each other is no easy task haha! Some days are easier than others. We just roll with it!

While I try and help my grade 3 with math and English, I get my 4yo to practice tracing and coloring. Then I switch over to help my 4yo with reading and site words.

We work on school stuff for about 2 hours in the morning. The amount of work the school sends is about 1 hour a day, but we usually take 2 hours.  They complete their lessons that their teachers send by 12pm each day.

Then it’s a free for all! Haha. They get to play in the backyard, have lunch and snacks, figure out fun games to play, relax and watch movies. I also have my time to work on my project and do house work while they have fun playing.

This is what is working for us. This is what keeps my kids happy and having fun at home and not feeling the stress of the outside world.

We have open communication with them, and help them understand what the whole world is going through and the changes to society right now. We have donated to food banks and those in need and pray everyday for the world and those who lost their lives to this virus. 🙏🏻

I want them to remember this time as calming as possible. I want them to remember how we were all lucky to be home together for months with love. Staying home to keep us and others safe. FaceTiming and phone calls to stay connected to those we love.

We are making history right now and we all need to be as gentle with each other as possible.

Here’s to another day at home :) flattening that curve!

New year goal setting

It's that time again! Beginning of a new year! Perfect time to reflect on the past year and make goals for the new year ahead. The husband and I re-write our goals every year. From personal growth, family, healthy living, career and financial goals.

Some goals for this year and in no particular order, are:

Being a better mother. There's always improvement in this job ha! I always feel I could do more or do things different. I want to raise respectful independent boys with big hearts full of love. I want to show them so many things! Every night I go to bed thinking about how I could be better the next day.

Just love these boys Sooo much!

2016 here will be about healthy! Healthy living! Healthy eating! For all of us!

Baby M is now on solids and im soo excited to make his baby food. Big brother loves a wide range of foods and I hope that baby M follows in those same footsteps. So introducing superfoods at an early stage to help ensure he loves the taste of healthy!

Small changes. We are not making big changes to diet or anything. But instead small changes that are easy to apply and therefore becomes part of our lifestyle. ---- Juicing every weekend
- using our pressure cooker for many meals (blog post on this soon) make healthy meals quick and easy and one pot clean up which is great being a mom of 2! Like this chicken soup in 30mins that the whole family loved!

-30min workouts twice a week
- drink more green tea less coffee
-cooking with coconut oil
-exfoliate and moisturize daily
-drink more water

Just a few things we are doing to get healthy!

Other goals include going to church with the kids more often. Giving back more. Being less wasteful. Conserving energy. Saving more. Traveling more. Making a vision board for our future. My list goes on and on ha.

Little K is understanding the concept of money more and more. From very early on I would talk to him about money and saving in his piggy bank and how much things cost when we purchase. Lately he's been asking more questions about it. So a new thing we are doing is having him put money he gets into his piggybank. Then making him choose between toys that he wants and purchasing them with the money he saved. We were amazed to see how he was going back and forth trying to decide which of the 3 toys he wanted, and choosing one and knowing he will pay for it himself. Ha! Little k has financial goals.

But that's a lesson for all of us too.

What are your 2016 goals!?

Big Bro Little bro

As a little brother you get the advantage of learning so much from big brother. Big brother  is learning how to live life with a little sidekick too!

Big bro bugs you a lot right now and thinks you are hilarious with the ️adorable baby sounds you make.
He's also very protective and makes sure you are involved in everything we do as a family. He's always asking where you are and that we can't forget you. Ha!

You are almost 6 weeks old and we are always comparing you to big bro. We do that because we are amazed to see 2 kids WE made, growing in front of us! Little miracles, little people!
Will you grow to be just like your brother or very different? Either way you will be your own person.
Both of you individuals with your own likes and dislikes, your own personalities making up our little family. We will always make sure you both respect eachothers differences because as your big bro already says, 'you are a people, and I am a people' haha we are all people! Different but in the end all the same, we are human!
It's such a blessing being your parents and we will love you both just the same forever!

And when you are older and can't stand eachother (haha) I'll be sure to show you these adorable pictures!

Big bro little bro Love!

Just a little this and that

What's going on this week? back to school colds, that's what! Little K came home with a cold and passed it on to babyM and mommy!

The other night was tough! I sent the Mr out at midnight to get some things to help with baby M's cold!

The hydra sense is helping sooo much!!

To be safe since M is only 1 month I took them both to the doctor yesterday.

Oh yes , just me and 2 sick kiddies.

Little K was great at first, pushing the stroller, pressing the elevator buttons, being a big boy getting weighed and temperature checked.... Then it was baby M's turn. Little K wasn't thrilled at the shift in attention. Sooo Mr 3 year old came out full force, making noise, climbing the walls, Pretending to run out of the office. Whaaa!!! I couldn't wait to get out of there. He was testing my patience that's forsure! Momlife!!! Insert tears here haha
No doctor pics, you can imagine why, my hands were pretty full! Ha!

This past weekend we went to the amusement park, it will be closing for the season soon, so we need to make the most of our dino walks!

Or strolls.

Fun walk and great exercise for us. Ha!

Especially after our Sunday lunch!

Can you believe that this past weekend was my first time making lasagna! My mom makes the best lasagna! And even tho it was my first time, I followed her directions and added a little flare of my own and it was sooo delish! Yum!!

Since I've been on maternity leave I've been cooking a lot more! But with 2 kids, it isn't easy!

I'm trying out a lot of new slowcooker recipes as well. 2 kids need so much of my attention it's hard to take extra time in the kitchen! But I don't mind! As long as we have easy delicious meals planned we are all happy!!

My baby boy will be 6 weeks this week. He's beginning to pay more attention, looking closely at us and beginning to coo! So adorable!

I think little K can't wait for baby to notice him!

Oh! And yesterday we went to try out for piano!! Little k is showing a lot of interest.

He loved it but he's still a bit young to begin the lessons. So enrollment wot be until next summer. In the meantime, we will begin practice at home!

Life of my kiddies

This week is the second week of JK!

Little man had a great week last week
Which makes me sooo happy!

Daddy will begin drop offs this week, so an earlier start it will be.

I'll be doing pickups with my sweet baby boy.

We have bedtime sorted and little k is sleeping between 8-9pm. Yay!

Lunches were perfect last week. Little k loved them all!

The yumbox is really the best thing for lunch! A little bit of everything to keep little k happy and full!

I feel like the days are flying by!

Little k is 3.5 going on 13!

And baby M is 4 weeks going on 4 months!! Haha

He's already in 3-6 month clothing!
My big boys!

Last week baby M had his hearing test.
He passed, and they gave us a free kids book. So nice!

Now with little k in school I'll have so much more time to snuggle with baby M.

Hope everyone has a great second week back to school!

The first day of junior kindergarden

Here we are, beginning JK! 4 years ago still more than a month away from your birthday!

My little boy. You were a baby in my arms just 4 years ago!

At almost 4 years old you have been to 2 different daycares, a montessori school and now public school. I felt confident about today and your independent little self beginning your first day! You are good with change and adapt pretty fast. You are very vocal about what you like and don't like! So we will hear about it forsure!

This morning as we had breakfast you expressed that you rather be home! Ha! I took a video of our conversation it was pretty cute!

We styled your hair, like you asked.

We packed up your little brother and drove to the school.

You were ready! Head held high and walked in the school like you knew all about it!

Not one tear from any of us haha.

You went in with a teacher,
She walked you to your class.

You didn't even look back! Thx for that! Ha!

When I picked you up you said you had fun! You loved your new class!

I had a cake pop waiting for you! You loved that!! I'll have Cake pops for you all week! Yay! This is a big deal this JK!

I am so happy! Hoping day 2 is just as smooth!!

I have your lunch packed and ready.

In your backpack was a package of forms. I spent the evening signing these forms. Lunch and milk programs too. I even filled out your agenda with the upcoming days off and teacher meetings.

Mommy is just as excited as you are!!

My first baby off to school! We love you so much!

Weekend fun before school!

Oh boy tomorrow is the first day of school! And like many parents we are nervous for our little ones!

Little k is going to JK! Where did these 4 years go!

I just prepared his clothes for tomorrow morning and his school bag.

Tomorrow he is going in for just 2 hours and Wednesday he begins full day!

This weekend we had Soo much fun with family and friends!

My sister had a 30th birthday party at her place.

While the adults had fun my older niece helped put the littles to sleep haha.

Yesterday we had a bbq party at our place. And little k met a new friend

It's been sooooo hot here which is great!
But better if we were having pool parties this weekend haha.

Baby M is 3 weeks old already!

My cutie!!
