Happy Canada Day!

Today was Canada Day! So we went out and enjoyed it!
Just 15 minutes from our house in the township of King we found a nature trail! It was a beautiful sunny day and we spent about 2 hours here this morning :)

At one point we got lost and used our google maps haha! We were ok and found our way.
The trail is really meant for Bikes I think... There were many cyclist on the trails, we had to jump out of the way a couple times.
Exhausted!

Just down the street from the trail is Pine Orchard apple farm. After our long and tiring hike we went there to grab a bite. It is soo nice here. I absolutely love the peace and tranquility of being North of the city.

And I couldn't be at a apple farm without eating a apple something, so I had a apple turnover :)... I really need to get back on track soon!
Apples are growing! It's soo pretty here. If you live in Toronto, you definitely need to check out Pine orchard farms. It's about 40 mins from Toronto. They have apple picking too beginning the end of August. You'll see meee there for sure!

Tonight we planned to go for a walk to get a closer view of the fireworks, but after a long day we both were pretty much pooped! So we brought out some chairs, drinks and popcorn and watched the fireworks from our porch :)

A walk in nature


Tonight I went down to the city. My sister and I went for a walk in High Park. We walked for about an hour and a half. It was a great work out. I wore my easytones and I just know I will feel it tomorrow.

This little guy joined us for a little while, following us around until we got pretty freaked out and ran away from it ha!


It was such a beautiful night for a walk too.

I decided to really revamp my workouts this summer and will be getting into it next week. I'll blog about it when I come up with my new schedule. I also decided to buy ROLLER BLADES! Yippy! I'm getting them this weekend. I need to focus my attention on other things or I will make myself crazy... and focusing on exercise will help in more ways than one! :)

Calorie counting


Like I mentioned before I use my Iphone app to track calories (My Fitness Pal) It can search pretty much everything you are looking for. It has helped a lot with counting my daily cals.

Another way to ensure you keep the calories in check, is using a measurement cup. I never use to do this, but there are some foods I'd like to enjoy and moderation is key. So measuring cup to the rescue!
I came home from work tonight a little bit stressed (ugh again!) and ALMOST ate out, but made sure to come straight home and make dinner!

Then I used the rest of my daily calories on a Strawberry Sundae ahah!

Workout Dvd's Update. Love the new total workout in 10. I did 10 minutes on Monday then 30 minutes yesterday. I wanted to get 10 minutes in today but I'm wayyy too exhausted and my legs are pretty sore!

So glad tomorrow is Thursday! We have a long weekend and I'm looking forward to relaxing!

Great weekend and new workout DVD's!

Hope you all had a good weekend! I know Zoe did ahhah! Such a little trouble maker!

I had a great weekend, it was relaxing and tried my best to keep the stress away!

I rocked my easy tones all weekend. I did all my errands with them on, cleaned the house with them on and even worked out with them on. I feel them working my thighs and tushy. So far so good!

At walmart they had a sale on workout DVD's. 2 for $10. So I bought 2 of them.

So far I tried the ten minute workout. I love it! Although I enjoyed the 30 day Shred as well I found that it would make me dizzy going up and down from lunges to laying down- doing abs then back up etc... This new 10 minute workout has 10min cardio, then 10 min lower bod then 10 min upper.. see below...
The 10 min cardio is a really good work out and it makes you sweat! All while standing up no laying down haha! My workouts are remaining as minimum 3x week and on days I'm not that busy i'll add in the 10 min cardio for a total 5 days when I can. :)


I'm adding some extras to my diet this week. Plenty of broccoli since it helps with increasing metabolism, plums that are rich in dietary fiber :) and pistachios which also contain lots of fiber.

Gazelle work out

This morning I went for my B12 shot and my funny doctor said "Do ppl say, wow that girl has energy" hahh! I said NOPE! she said "OK then it's not working yet". ahahah She makes me laugh. Just as she was asking me I was thinking in my head how what a horrible schedule I have. I get to bed late, wake up late, arrive everywhere late. Yesterday I was so tired that I fell asleep at 6pm when I got home from work! Now that's not a girl with energy. NOPE!

So part of my new exercise goals I'm mixing the Shred DVD and my Gazelle workouts. I like changing it up. That way when I don't feel like doing one, I'll do the other.
Tonight there are some shows on Tv that I like. Modern Family and Cougar town. hilarious! My TV snack was carrots and dip :) (well the dip part is not too good, but good thing I didn't like it to much so left a lot :)

On the way home from work tonight we stopped by Winners and Homesense. I only walked out with a button shirt and also this piece of art. I love word art. Especially when it was only $10.00 :)

Today my lower back was hurting alot. I'm glad it doesn't hurt everyday but it's been hurting about twice a week. When will this cyst bursttttt already! I can't take it anymoreee!.... that's my little bit of drama, I'll just leave it at that.

I'm hoping to get to bed sorta early tonight. :) Good night!!

30 day shred update

If you are like me you are sad the weekend is over :(. I had a really good weekend, I hope you did too!

To end a good weekend my husband and I went for a ride north to the apple farm to buy apple pie :) I'm doing really well with my calories sooooooo a piece of apple pie is well deserved. ahah! :)

Ok I know many of you are also doing the 30 day shred... What a workout! and I'm still only on level 1!!! If you are considering getting the DVD, I say what are you waiting for!!?? Go get it! And all you need is a mat and weights :) as the DVD says ahah!
For those of you just beginning, one tip I can give, is to really pay attention to Jillian, she gives really good tips on technique and boy when you follow her words you feel it! Especially the last Ab workout... you know what I'm talking about :)

Do any of you know how many calories are burned in the 30day shred levels? I guess it would depend on our individual body weight as well hmm I'll be googling that now.

For lunch this week I'm switching back to wraps, I want to switch it up weekly so I don't get bored :) I'll post on that tomorrow.

Ouch! Jillian Michaels Kicked my butt!

I remember other bloggers writing about this DVD Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, but never made the decision to get it. Last week my good friend over at Confessions of a Diet-aholic started tweeting about her amazing workout with the 30 day shred DVD. So on Monday I went to get it.

Last night I prepared my mat and weights (5lbs, much too heavy, I went out to buy 3lbs today ha!) I am now pretty much turning my whole basement into my workout area ahah.

Well... I started Level 1 yesterday and at the beginning I thought, PIECE OF CAKE! By the end of the dvd I was out of breath and all sweaty and it's only 20mins! It was great!

Today... I can barely walk. My legs and bum are soo sore and my arms and shoulders are sore and stiff.

Great workout! I'm making a new list of 2010 goals and I'm excited!

Basement Exercise Room

It's now way too cold for jogging. I know some people don't mind jogging in the cold, but I hate the feeling of freezing then sweating. So that's what I have a basement for! Now we will put use to our basement exercise room!
And of course where I am, Zoe is... hahah!


Today I made sure that no matter how exhausted I was I had to make time for working out. As soon as I got home I prepared dinner, popped it all in the oven for 40mins and went downstairs to work out. When I was done working out dinner was ready! Ahh Chicken, Veggies and a Samosa!

Dinners are late these days, and by the time dinner is done and dishes are cleaned it's 730 and sometimes 8!, I know it may not sound late for some but for the last 4 years I never came home from work passed 5! and dinner and dishes never put me passed 6pm! I just always had more evening time. Miss that! (yes... If you haven't noticed, I kick and scream with change... ;) )

My Goals for the week



Yesterday I went grocery shopping and bought lots of healthy food. Fruit, Veggies, Meat, fish :) and no sweets! If they are outta sight they are outta mind! Well maybe not outta mind ahah!

I also bought yogurt with granola to try for snacks this week. They look good :)

I also bought some of these organic burritos. I tried these before and I saw another blogger friend write about them a couple weeks ago so I decided to buy them again. They are really good! Filled with veggies and black beans. Yum!




My goals for the week are the following:
1. NO FAST FOOD!!!
This weekend I ate out more than I would have liked to, and I feel really bad about it and do not want to do my weigh in today so I will do it Wednesday.
2. Healthy home cooking all week. :)
3. Limit sweets
4. Limit carbs at dinner
5. Drink plenty of water / Green Tea
6. 3 days a week Jogging
7. 2-3 days 10000 steps on pedometer :)

I think I can handle this!

Now on to not so fun news. The 2 job interview I went to last week that I was so excited for and thought for sure I would get.... Well, I didn't. I really do not know what is going on here. I'm working my butt off looking for a job, trying my best in interviews and I'm not getting any of these jobs... heck I didn't even get that entry job one with the company I worked with before. Like really, somethings gotta give! So lets just say I'm more frustrated than usual. But, I'll keep going and trying and hopefully something comes along.

At least it's a gorgeous Fall Monday with the sun shining and the leaves so colorful, ahhh I like that.

Hump Day Update-Pumpkin pie?

The I phone doesn't take the best pictures but if you look closely there's frost on the grass! burrr!

So I did my weigh in today and weight is still maintained, a good sign but like I mentioned before I need to really cut the cals!

And of course knowing that I did not eat this pumpkin pie with a hot coffee this morning...

Ha! Ok I did! Oh it was so yummy too!

Some days I'm really good at watching what I eat, others I just binge! It's funny because now that I have been watching what I eat I can pinpoint exactly why I eat the way I do at certain times. When I'm stressed there is no controlling me, so bad huh. Not sure to how I need to address that, but I am aware of what I'm doing when I'm doing it so hopefully I can take baby steps to overcoming that.

This weeks goals:

Jogging 3 days.
Pedometer 2 days 10000
No carbs at dinner

I really try my best and minus the carbs at dinner and it's been working pretty well so far so I will continue that.... Except for tonight ahahh we are going to my inlaws house to watch a soccer game. They are from Honduras and they are playing a important game tonight. Hope they win!!

Did I mention - I hate looking for work...

Almost October and no job yet. I'm having one of those days, I'm just fed up! I'll be honest, I am really really hating this job stuff! Thanks to looking for a job I feel my summer was sacrificed with no reward and now Fall has started and I'm pretty much at square one. My days feel more and more depressing. I feel that my daily job hunting is wasting my life away, my days have no meaning, no point almost. Just day in and day out of looking for a job, going to depressing interviews at places I do not even want to work at and then it gets repeated all over again. Thank goodness for my blog that helps keep me sane! I'm usually a upbeat person but the weeks have been flying by and I feel the drain more and more each day! I never thought looking for work would be so hard nor did I ever think it would drain me as it is...

Some better news, I worked out really hard yesterday and now my legs are in so much pain and wobbly ahah a good sign. I'll do it again today. At least this is one part of my life I have control of, somewhat... :)

Hump Day Update

Tuesday's afternoon walk plus a walk through the mall in the evening added up to 10514 steps on the pedometer! One of my weekly goals includes 2, 10000 steps so I have 1 more to go. The reason I have only 2, is because steps are done by walking only, the other days I jog, I do not wear the pedometer.

So far my mid week goals are going pretty well. I'm cooking at home, I'm working out, drinking lots of water and green tea. So I'm excited to see some results already!!!

As for my job hunt, it is going just ok. I have an interview with an agency on Friday and a potential interview next week with a company. Looking for a job is one of the most stressful areas in my life, I guess it is because I have a love hate relationship with working. I hate the 9-5 no offense, but I can remember how much I dreaded going into work everyday in my past. Yet the bills need to get paid and shopping needs to be done :) So the getting paid part is the good thing ahah! Ahhh just trying to help myself go into everything with ease this time around. Vaca is in 11 days and boy am I looking forward to laying on the beach with a good book!.

Afternoon walk

6500 steps on the pedometer today on my afternoon walk. Sun was shining and boy was it hot! A reminder for next time is to bring sunglasses!

When I got home I was so thirsty and water was not cutting it. I took out my tray of fruit and I'm almost half way through those grapes!

Green Tea ALL day!

Today I decided to drink as much Green Tea as I can! I need to flush all the bad bad sugar I ate this weekend.

The culprit is below! Sfoglia Cake
This cake is heaven! I had 2 pieces this weekend and I have left overs in the fridge! I forgot to send off pieces to the guests we had over and now there's a plate of cake in my fridge! I could just throw it away... but oh what a waste of delicious cake that wood be! I could go give some to my neighbors... hmm but all these kids have nut allergies and I have no idea if this cake is nut free! I cannot eat more of this cake this week, that is a big no no! I have my mini goal to accomplish by Wednesday and trip goal by September. Self discipline will be needed this month that is for sure.

Husband decided to join me in my beach ready goal, so tonight we are starting our jogging sessions, fun!

Also, I just read online that coffee grinds help with cellulite.. have you heard this? I just made a pot of coffee( not to drink ha!) but to save the grinds in a bowl. Tonight I will rub those grinds all over Mrs Thighs and Bum and hopefully be beach ready by Sept!

Hump day update ;)


The other night I made my favorite dish. Stuffed peppers with Caesar salad and avocado chimol yum. I get a little bit of everything in here, and really easy to make.

I did my weigh in yesterday morning and I'm up 4lbs :( Not good at all! I need to really kick up the working out! I guess I have been pretty lazy these days and I'm feeling the depressed moods creeping up. Working out always sends the happy chemicals thru the brain so I need some of those! So Gazelle here I come!

JUST NOW I got a call for my first interview from applying to jobs like crazy. Wish me luck! I need it! I can't think of anything else that shakes my nerves more than job interviews (well lots of other things do too lol, but this more than anything!). Weird because I've been to so many interviews and my track record shows that I have always been ok and survived! But, I still get overwhelmingly nervous and so uncomfortable! I have 5 days to prepare so I hope I will be calmer by then :) Times like this I wish I lived on a secluded island with nothing but beach and martini's haha!

Fresh start... but not this morning...

MMM Nutella, Nutella sandwiches (with white toast bread) are so yummy and totally associated with my childhood memories. I made the big mistake of buying it last week when we were waiting 3 days with no fridge and stove. I figured bread and nutella are hardy breakfasts.haha!

However, now I'm addicted and pretty much finished half the jar in a week.

Last week must of been the worst of my eating of all time! I can not even express the amount of donuts and french fries I consumed in a week!

BUT, I need to get back on track. Should I just throw away the half eatn jar? Or just stash it way back in the cupboard. Hmm I know if I leave it in the open I will continue eating it everyday!

My husband finished painting the spare bedrooms and I decided to put my gazelle and mini trampoline in one of the rooms for easy access to my workout equip.

New goals for the week start today! (similar to all my goals) but really I have no more excuses now!

1. No donuts or french fries!!!!!!
2. Eat as many home cooked meals in a week at least 5 days of the 7
3. Limit carb intake at dinners
4. 1/2 hour on the gazelle
5. 5 mins a day on the trampoline
6. drink plenty of water/tea
7. Supplements; Take fish oil pills with lunch, soy lecithin twice a day and 5htp at night.

I also heard that bathing in Epsom salts are really good for water retention. Do you know if that is true? I'll look that up now too.

Hump Day Update!

I found a site that I was able to put my current weight and desired weight and get these cute images. So I put what I originally started at and a goal weight of 128 (Not even close). Like I mentioned before I am more bottom heavy, I don't think the pics really look like my body- add more thickness to the legs for the top one and there its me lol ahhaa.

Last night my sister and I went for a 2 hour walk and took 12500 steps! I was shocked! :) And boy was I exhausted when I got home!

My weight has not changed for a while now, I'm guessing I should make more changes than what I have been doing but I will reevaluate Monday.

Job hunt has begun, which is really hard. I've had many different positions and have a college diploma in Business and a software testing certificate so I've been in the office industry and in the IT world. I'm a little confused on what to go towards now since being laid off... I will misssss being home!! :( too many changes to overcome these days. All I can repeat in my head is that it only means I'm growing towards my dreams ;)
